Ponthir District Sports Club – A hidden gem!

Situated adjacent to Ponthir CV School and the private Nursery you’ll find the attractive, green heart of Ponthir. The fields provide the only real public open space in the village and act as a magnate for local families, dog walkers and sports fans.

The club (PDSC) is set up to provide facilities and support for sports and community activities and as such is home for Ponthir Cricket Club, Ponthir Football club, plus both their respective junior sections. We also host a regular quiz and a crib team.

With a lounge and licensed bar, the pavilion itself acts as an excellent venue for parties, TV events and is often booked for charitable and cultural activities such as Spanish classes.

The club arranges at least three large public fund-raising events which have become fantastically popular over the last few years. Over the August Bank Holiday, the increasingly successful Car & Music festival attracted hundreds of people to enjoy the attractions and sit out on the grass on a beautiful warm sunny day. November 5th will see our annual bonfire and fireworks display – last year attracting huge, appreciative crowds from far and wide.

If you would like to know more about the club, book an event, become a member or just come and watch some sport do get in touch via our Facebook page. Just type in:  ponthirdistrictsportsclub

From there we can also put you in touch with the sports sections if you or your children want to play or just watch – though they too have their own Facebook pages.

Come along and find us – you are assured of a warm welcome!

Currently term time only, but thanks to funding supplied by the Community Council and your

local ward councillor, Cllr Huw Bevan, summer holiday play schemes will be available in Ponthir this year.

Many thanks to Torfaen County Borough Council Play Service for working with us to provide this

opportunity for children in the area.

More information about start dates for the summer play scheme will appear here when available
